According to officials, a plane crashed on Wednesday while taking off from Kathmandu, killing at least 14 people.
The flight from Saurya Airlines to Pokhara, a popular tourist destination, had 19 passengers on board.
The plane, which was performing a test flight, had two crew members in addition to 17 technical staff members from Saurya Airline.
There are concerns that the death toll could rise further as a result of the ongoing search operation.
The plane was covered in fire and smoke, according to online videos.
After the incident, ambulances and fire engines rushed to the location.
Dan Bahadur Karki, the spokesperson for the Nepali police, told BBC Nepali that there were deaths and that a pilot was being treated for injuries.
Nepal has received criticism for its poor record on air safety. A Yeti Airlines crash in January 2023 claimed the lives of at least 72 people and was later attributed to pilots cutting the power erroneously.
According to the external website of the company, Saruya Airlines uses a fleet of three Bombardier CRJ-200 jets to fly to five destinations within Nepal.
