Urgent Repair Completed on Major Pipeline in Hyderabad After Burst

UPDATE: A major pipeline burst in Hyderabad early Tuesday morning, causing significant flooding in residential areas. The incident occurred at approximately 2:40 AM near Nagulamma Temple, prompting immediate action from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).

Officials confirmed that the high-pressure pipeline, which runs from Khanapur to Bojagutta, ruptured, leading to extensive water discharge that flooded basements and streets in several neighborhoods. HMWSSB MD Ashok Reddy stated that water supply was halted at 3:00 AM to mitigate further damage.

Repair work commenced at 7:00 AM as crews worked tirelessly to replace the damaged sections using 1,150 MS barrels. Water supply will be progressively restored across the affected areas, which include Kokapet, Gandipet, Manikonda, Narsingi, Manchirevula, Puppalguda, and parts of the Bojagutta and Shaikpet reservoir commands.

The rupture released a significant volume of water, but the nearby Pandena Vagu canal helped drain a substantial amount, averting further flooding in additional colonies. In response to the disruption, HMWSSB has deployed water tankers to affected neighborhoods to ensure residents have access to water during the repair period.

This incident highlights the critical infrastructure challenges facing urban areas like Hyderabad. As the repairs progress, residents are urged to stay updated on water supply status and report any further issues to local authorities.

Officials are closely monitoring the situation, and further updates will follow as the repair work nears completion. Stay tuned for the latest developments on this urgent matter.
