Unique Boat Holiday Let Approved on Lake in Mid Wales

UPDATE: A new holiday let has just been approved in Mid Wales, transforming a boat on the picturesque Pen Y Clawdd Pool into a unique accommodation option. This decision, confirmed by local planners, signals an exciting development for both tourists and fishing enthusiasts in the area.

The boat will be moored along the north shore of Pen Y Clawdd Pool, located at Llanbister Road, Llandrindod Wells. This stunning location, spanning 4.5 acres, is renowned for its recreational fishing, attracting anglers from across the region. The site is elevated at 1,200 feet, making it one of the highest carp lakes in the UK, known for its impressive catches, including mirrors weighing up to 26lb.

Mr. Morgan from The Farm, Dutlas near Knighton applied for the planning permission, and it has been approved just in time for the October 2023 tourist season. The boat will come equipped with modern amenities, including toilet and washing facilities, ensuring a comfortable stay for visitors.

In addition to the boat, a shed will be constructed, and an access track will be created, facilitating easy entry to this idyllic getaway. The development will also generate a part-time job, providing a boost to local employment.

Access to the boat will be through an established gateway off an unclassified road. Visitors will reach the boat via a three-meter-wide track that crosses two agricultural grassland fields. A small parking area for single vehicles will be created, leading to a pontoon connected to concrete pads located at the lake’s north shore.

The project will involve minimal disruption to the environment, requiring only the removal of small areas of agricultural grassland for the access track and pontoon. Importantly, no trees or hedgerows will be impacted.

This innovative holiday let is expected to attract tourists seeking a unique experience, combining the tranquility of nature with the thrill of fishing. As the project progresses, more developments are anticipated, with local officials excited about the potential economic benefits for the Llandrindod Wells area.

Stay tuned for further updates as this project unfolds, promising a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors to Mid Wales.
