Authorities in Bijelo Polje have taken significant action against illegal weapon possession, leading to the seizure of multiple firearms and explosives. Officers from the Regional Centre for Security “North” conducted a thorough search of the premises belonging to a local resident, identified as V.N., following a court order. This operation resulted in the discovery of a substantial cache of weapons.
During the search, law enforcement officials confiscated four rifles, including an Italian-made rifle with a caliber of 6.15 mm, a pump-action hunting rifle, and two CZ hunting rifles. Additionally, they found a CZ pistol with a caliber of 7.62 mm, along with 151 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. Most notably, the police seized an M60 cumulative mine, a type of explosive that is strictly prohibited for civilian ownership.
According to the Police Directorate (UP), V.N. was found to possess these firearms and ammunition illegally, as civilian ownership of explosives is not permitted under current laws. The pistol, which was legally owned, has been temporarily seized and will be submitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) for further proceedings regarding its permanent confiscation.
The police have reiterated their commitment to reducing the availability of illegal weapons throughout the country. They will continue to implement both preventative and punitive measures aimed at combating all forms of crime, particularly focusing on the discovery and removal of illicit weapons and explosives. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety and create a more secure environment for residents.
Law enforcement officials are determined to address the dangers posed by illegal firearms and explosives, aiming to lower crime rates and ensure the safety of the community. The ongoing efforts reflect a proactive approach to maintaining security in Bijelo Polje and beyond, emphasizing the importance of lawful possession of firearms and the serious implications of violating these laws.
