UPDATE: A prolific shoplifter from Bristol has been sentenced to prison after defying a warning that he would face jail if he reoffended. Brandon Weyman, 32, was sentenced to one year behind bars on November 25, 2025, just days after receiving a suspended sentence for similar crimes.
Weyman, of Clouds Hill Road in St George, was convicted at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on November 20 for 27 charges of shop theft committed between October 20 and November 18. He had been handed a 12-month suspended sentence for these offenses, allowing him to avoid prison if he stayed out of trouble for 18 months. However, just days later, he was arrested again.
Within a week, Weyman pleaded guilty to an additional five thefts and a breach of a Criminal Behaviour Order, leading to an extra four-month prison term to be served concurrently with his earlier sentence. This rapid reoffending highlights his blatant disregard for the law, according to local authorities.
Neighbourhood inspector Richard Jones stated, “Weyman’s actions show a flagrant disregard for people and their property.” He emphasized the commitment of the police to tackle repeat offenders and protect local retailers and their staff, who have endured significant losses due to Weyman’s thefts.
Authorities are now urging the community to remain vigilant, as they continue to focus on apprehending those who repeatedly break the law. “Having him back in court within a week of his previous sentence is testament to the neighbourhood team,” Jones added, reaffirming their dedication to ensuring justice is served and the community is safeguarded.
This latest development not only underscores the challenges law enforcement faces with repeat offenders but also reflects the ongoing efforts to maintain safety in Bristol’s shopping districts. Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious activity as the police ramp up their operations against theft.
As this story unfolds, residents and retailers alike are reminded of the importance of cooperating with law enforcement to combat crime effectively. Stay tuned for updates on this ongoing situation.
