Urgent Update: Two Hospitalized After East Lancs Road Crash

Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on the East Lancs Road in Liverpool that has left two people hospitalized tonight, December 24. The incident occurred around 9 PM and has resulted in a complete road closure in both directions.

According to the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS), crews were alerted at 8:42 PM and arrived on the scene just four minutes later. The collision involved two vehicles, prompting a rapid response from emergency teams.

“Crews arrived to find a road traffic collision (RTC) involving two vehicles,”

a spokesperson stated, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

Several individuals had to be extricated from the wreckage. Firefighters quickly removed one casualty using a longboard, while the other required a full roof removal for safe extraction. Both victims have been handed over to the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) for immediate medical care.

Merseyside Police confirmed they are managing the scene near Vikings Landing and are urging the public to avoid the area due to ongoing road closures. The police issued a statement on social media, saying,

“Police are currently dealing with an RTC along the East Lancashire Road near the Vikings Landing. Please avoid the area due to road closures in place.”
