Tragic Dog Attack Claims Life of Nine-Month-Old in Wales

A nine-month-old baby has died following a dog attack at a residence in Rogiet, Wales. The incident occurred on March 17, 2024, at approximately 18:00 local time. Gwent Police responded to an alert, dispatching officers alongside paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service to the scene.

Witnesses reported a substantial emergency response, which included up to nine ambulances and numerous police vehicles, as well as an armed response unit. Tragically, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Underway

Authorities have seized the dog involved in the incident and removed it from the property. Chief Superintendent John Davies of Gwent Police stated that an investigation is currently underway, urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation, saying, “We understand that there will be concerns around this incident, but officers are on scene and will be making further enquiries as the investigation progresses. A spokesperson noted, “We were called today at 18:02 to reports of a medical emergency in Rogiet, Caldicot. We sent one Cymru High Acuity Response Unit, an Advanced Paramedic Practitioner, a Duty Operations Manager, and one Emergency Ambulance. Crews were supported by our Hazardous Area Response Team.”
