Police Charge Three for Series of Shop Thefts in Walsall

West Midlands Police have charged three individuals following a series of shop thefts in the town of Walsall. The arrests involved two men and one woman who are believed to be connected to multiple incidents of theft occurring over recent months in the area.

The individuals charged are Stuart Arnold, aged 38, Sean Feeney, 37, and Olivia Siwak, 20. All three face multiple counts of shop theft, with charges stemming from incidents that took place between October and November 2023.

Details of the Charges

Both Arnold and Siwak were remanded in custody after appearing at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on December 9, 2023. Feeney, who also faces similar charges, is scheduled to appear at the same court on Monday.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the charges, stating, “Stuart Arnold has been charged with multiple shop theft offences. The 38-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates yesterday.” They added that “Sean Feeney has been charged with multiple shop theft offences,” further noting, “Olivia Siwak has also been charged with multiple shop theft offences.”

Police Efforts to Combat Shop Theft

The police are taking a proactive approach to address theft in the Walsall area. PC Courtney Tongue, the newly appointed Business Crime Co-ordination Officer for Walsall, has been actively working on cases involving repeat offenders. The local policing area has initiated Op Marigold, a dedicated operation aimed at tackling the rising issue of shop thefts.

According to the police, “Combatting shop thefts is a priority at Walsall Local Policing Area (LPA).” The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to enhance safety for local businesses and reduce the incidence of theft, ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
