Social media influencer Lorna Luxe has shared the heartbreaking news that her husband, John Andrews, has passed away following a prolonged battle with cancer. The couple faced significant challenges after John was diagnosed with stage four adrenal cancer in early 2023. He succumbed to the disease at their home, surrounded by loved ones, in the week of February 5, 2024.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Lorna expressed her grief, stating, “My beautiful, brave John died yesterday. I am heartbroken. We were together to the very end, at home, in our own bed and holding hands, which is exactly what he wanted.” Lorna highlighted the couple’s deep connection, recalling their last conversation: “I asked him how he was feeling and he replied ‘rough but in love.’ That was so him, to the point and choosing to put aside his fears to make me feel cherished and loved.”
John’s cancer journey began in April 2023, when he entered remission after initial treatment. Unfortunately, the condition returned in 2024, progressing to stage four and spreading to his brain. Despite this, John underwent surgery and the couple held onto hope as he continued to fight the illness. Lorna noted the vital support they received from district nurses, particularly praising one named Anna, who provided exceptional care during his final days.
Lorna had been actively updating her followers about their journey, expressing gratitude for the support they received. On February 7, she shared a poignant note on Instagram, thanking fans for their kind messages: “I want you to know how grateful me and John are for all the kind messages… we don’t know how long we have but we’re holding each other tight.”
As John’s health declined, Lorna made the difficult decision to withdraw from a charity event planned for February 7, stating: “John is currently extremely unwell, and right now it isn’t the right time for me to be away from his side.” She reassured attendees that new details for the event, which supports Maggie’s Cancer Care and The Meath Epilepsy Charity, would be shared soon.
In her updates, Lorna candidly discussed the challenges they faced after John developed sepsis during Christmas. She revealed, “We’ve been told his cancer has progressed to other organs. So, treatment’s no longer an option.” Despite the grim prognosis, Lorna emphasized their commitment to remain positive, reflecting on John’s unwavering strength throughout their 16 years of marriage.
“One thing about John, his mindset’s never wavered,” she said. “He’s possibly the bravest person I know… we’re looking for a bit of a miracle. And we’re gonna take each day as it comes.” Lorna concluded her heartfelt tribute by reiterating their enduring love: “I will love you forever.”
