Disaronno Urgently Recalls Bottles Over Possible Glass Contamination

A popular festive beverage, Disaronno, has been urgently recalled in the UK due to potential contamination with glass fragments. On October 31, 2023, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced that specific 700ml bottles of the liqueur sold in England and Scotland may pose a risk to consumers.

The recall affects seven identified batches, attributed to an “anomaly on the bottle line” during production, according to the FSA. Customers are advised to check the codes on their bottles to determine if they are affected. The batches in question have the following codes: 25374, 25375, 25381, 25382, 25435, 25442, and 25444.

Consumers who possess any of the implicated bottles should refrain from consuming the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or exchange. For additional information, customers can contact Illva Saronno S.p.A at [email protected].

Similar Recall Issued in the Republic of Ireland

A comparable recall was issued in the Republic of Ireland on October 30, 2023. The notice highlighted that limited edition bottles of Disaronno Originale 500 Years could also contain micro-fragments of glass. The affected batches are identified by the codes 25371 and 25372. Retailers in Ireland have been instructed to display recall notices prominently at points of sale to inform customers.

The swift action by both the FSA and Illva Saronno reflects the seriousness of food safety regulations and the commitment to consumer health. As the festive season approaches, the recall serves as a reminder for consumers to remain vigilant about product safety.
