UPDATE: Three individuals have been charged following a series of cash machine raids that have netted a staggering £300,000 across the UK. Arrested during a pre-planned operation by West Midlands Police on Thursday, December 18, the suspects are set to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today, December 20.
The suspects, identified as David Price (43), Adam Walker (38), and Joanne McGregor (40), face serious charges including conspiracy to burgle, conspiracy to handle stolen goods, and possession of criminal property. The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into a gang responsible for nearly 30 raids on cash machines since February 2023, impacting areas including West Midlands, Staffordshire, Derbyshire, West Mercia Police region, and Wales.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the gang’s modus operandi involved the use of specialist equipment to break into buildings housing cash machines. Notably, among the successful raids was an incident at a Santander branch on Stourbridge High Street on June 25, where a cash box was stolen.
Earlier, two additional suspects were arrested but have since been released on bail as the investigation continues. This operation is part of Operation Target, an intensive initiative aimed at combating serious and organized crime in the West Midlands.
