BREAKING: Police have just seized cannabis plants valued at an estimated £40,000 in a significant operation in Bessbrook, Co Armagh. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) responded urgently to a report about suspicious activity at a property in the Ard Aveen Park area on Sunday, revealing what they described as “a substantial cannabis factory.”
According to Sergeant Gavin Grady, the operation is currently underway to dismantle the cannabis grow, with a significant quantity of street drugs being removed and prepared for destruction. “Targeting drug supply is a priority for local police and our officers are always on the lookout for any potential criminal activity,” he stated.
This raid comes on the heels of a similar incident just last month, where another cannabis factory was discovered less than a mile away in Bessbrook. Firefighters had alerted authorities while tackling a blaze at a residence, discovering “a substantial amount of cannabis and associated paraphernalia” within the property.
Local residents have been reassured that engineers were dispatched to ensure there were no safety hazards from the electrical systems used for lighting and machinery in the cannabis operation.
The PSNI is ramping up its efforts against drug-related crime in the area, and this significant seizure is part of a broader strategy to dismantle illegal drug supply networks. Authorities emphasize the importance of community vigilance and encourage residents to report any suspicious activities.
As law enforcement continues to take decisive action, the community remains on alert, fully aware of the impacts of drug trafficking on local safety.
