Court Releases Blazo Šaranović in Major Corruption Case

BREAKING: The court in Podgorica has just released former property director Blazo Šaranović from detention, where he has been held since February 18, 2023. This decision also affects two other suspects, Branko Danilović, a procurement officer, and Duško Radunović, owner of the firm “Stan projekt.”

The urgent announcement came from Ivana Vukmirović, a public relations advisor for the Higher Court in Podgorica, who confirmed that the court imposed strict oversight measures instead of continued detention. The suspects will now face restrictions including a ban on leaving their residences and meetings with certain individuals.

This development follows significant allegations against Šaranović and his associates concerning the purchase of a non-functional building intended for Monstat, which has reportedly caused damage to the state budget amounting to more than millions of euros.

Earlier, the court had also lifted detention orders for two other individuals involved in this case, Dijana Krivokapić and Rosanda Dujović.

The release of these individuals raises serious questions about the ongoing investigations led by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, which have been probing corruption within public procurement processes.

As this story develops, authorities are expected to ramp up scrutiny on public officials involved in questionable transactions that impact state finances.
