A tragic incident unfolded on February 24, 2026, in Jefferson City, Missouri, where Kevaughn Goldson, a 23-year-old college track star, was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend, Denita Jackson, 27. The incident occurred after Jackson discovered Goldson in bed with her roommate, leading to a violent confrontation.
According to court documents, Jackson had returned home early from work, feeling unwell. She had left Goldson in her bedroom hours earlier. Upon arriving at approximately 01:00, Jackson heard her roommate conversing with someone inside their room. Concerned, she used a hair clip to unlock the door and entered, where she reportedly found Goldson and her roommate lying together on the bed, both fully clothed.
Witnesses indicate that a physical altercation ensued when Jackson confronted Goldson. In the chaos, Goldson allegedly kicked Jackson, causing her to fall off the bed. Jackson claims that Goldson then got on top of her and began to choke her. In a moment of desperation, she retrieved a knife from under her roommate’s bed and stabbed Goldson in the back and chest.
Emergency services received a 911 call from Jackson, prompting a response from the Jefferson City Police Department at 01:09. Goldson was transported to the Capital Region Emergency Room but was later airlifted to University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during surgery.
Jackson was subsequently arrested and booked into Cole County Jail without bond. She faces charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Lincoln University, where both Goldson and Jackson were involved in athletics, expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with family, friends, faculty, staff, and all who have been impacted by this tragic situation.”
The incident has raised concerns regarding the relationship dynamics between Jackson and Goldson, as there were reports of a history of violent encounters between the couple. The case continues to develop as authorities gather further information.
