UPDATE: Renowned Montenegrin artist and caricaturist Luka Lagator just unveiled a stunning new exhibition at the Modern Gallery in Cetinje, marking a milestone of 60 years of artistic creation and his 80th birthday. The event took place last night, underscoring Lagator’s profound connection to his hometown.
This exhibition, titled “Sa apsurdom treba živjeti” (One Must Live with Absurdity), goes beyond mere artistic display; it serves as a poignant reflection on the human condition, emphasizing the absurdity inherent in life. Lagator dedicated his artwork to Cetinje, not as a mere backdrop but as a vital state of consciousness, where history continuously dialogues with the present.
During the opening, Lagator performed “Sisyphus’s Path,” where he symbolically carried a massive stone adorned with engravings and photographs representing both historical and contemporary Cetinje. “Sisyphus is not just a mythical figure; he embodies the universal struggle of modern humanity,” Lagator stated.
