OSM Aviation Academy Expands Fleet with 30 Tecnam Aircraft

Norwegian pilot-training company OSM Aviation Academy has reached a provisional agreement to acquire up to 30 Tecnam P-Mentor light aircraft. This order includes the purchase of 25 aircraft, with options for an additional five. This strategic move aims to enhance OSM’s operations and establish a robust presence in the USA to support its flight-training programs.

Executive Director of OSM, Hans Kyrre Hultgren, highlighted that the acquisition aligns with the company’s vision to expand its influence in the North American market. The addition of the P-Mentor aircraft is expected to bolster the academy’s existing fleet, which includes the Cessna 172 and Diamond Aircraft DA42.

Chief Executive Martin Floor emphasized the suitability of the P-Mentor for the academy’s “airline-ready” cadet program, noting its Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) capabilities. Floor described the aircraft as the “perfect” choice for training future pilots, reflecting OSM’s commitment to delivering high-quality education.

According to Tecnam, the P-Mentor is a two-seat trainer recognized for its “unmatched efficiency” and “advanced avionics.” The aircraft is designed to meet the evolving needs of flight training, making it an ideal addition to OSM’s fleet.

In a statement, Chief Sales Officer Walter Da Costa remarked, “This collaboration reinforces our shared commitment to innovation, safety, and excellence in aviation education.” This partnership underscores both companies’ dedication to enhancing pilot training and safety standards in aviation.

The acquisition is part of a broader strategy by OSM Aviation Academy to streamline training processes and improve the overall quality of its cadet programs. With the introduction of the Tecnam fleet, the academy aims to provide a more comprehensive training experience that meets the demands of modern aviation.

As the aviation industry continues to grow, OSM’s initiative to expand its fleet with advanced training aircraft positions it well for future success. The integration of the P-Mentor into their training regimen will likely play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of pilots.
