Botalys and Biohm Unveil Innovative Recovery Solution for Active Lifestyles

Botalys and Biohm have announced a new formulation concept aimed at enhancing post-workout recovery for active individuals. This innovative approach combines unique ingredients that target various biological pathways, offering a comprehensive solution for the active nutrition market. The formulation addresses not only muscle recovery but also immune support, catering to a broad audience that includes both athletes and everyday fitness enthusiasts.

The duo of ingredients presents a synergistic recovery solution. Botalys’ proprietary red ginseng has been standardized to contain over 12% total ginsenosides, including more than 10% of the rare ginsenosides Rg3, Rg5, and Rk1. This ingredient supports muscle and systemic recovery through mechanisms linked to mitochondrial energy and cellular resistance. Meanwhile, Biohm contributes its postbiotic, which operates through the gut-immune axis to promote balanced inflammatory signaling.

This formulation addresses a critical gap in recovery strategies, particularly as intense exercise can lead to muscle soreness, immune stress, inflammatory responses, and oxidative load. Kristin Wilhoyte, Vice President of Marketing at Biohm, emphasized that these recovery factors are essential for anyone wishing to maintain an active lifestyle, not just professional athletes.

Targeting Active Consumers

The companies are positioning this product to appeal to consumers who engage in regular training and prioritize recovery as part of their long-term health routines. Designed to be integrated into various forms, including active lifestyle supplements, daily recovery formulas, functional beverages, and wellness shots, the product aims to enhance resilience and overall well-being.

Wilhoyte noted that both Botalys and Biohm will supply their ingredients independently through existing commercial channels. This flexibility allows brands to customize their formulation designs, dosage, and positioning rather than relying on a fixed premix.

The ingredients are currently available in the United States, with plans for broader international availability subject to local regulatory requirements. This launch follows a series of strategic partnerships for both companies, which have previously collaborated with notable organizations. Last year, Botalys partnered with Haleon to develop a sustainable botanical ingredient and with Brightseed to utilize artificial intelligence in optimizing the bioactive expression of its plant supply. Biohm has also formed partnerships, including one with ADM to create a microbiome formulation tailored for women aged 45 to 65.

A New Approach to Recovery

When asked about the future of the collaboration between Botalys and Biohm, Wilhoyte clarified that this initiative is not a formal strategic partnership in the traditional sense. Instead, it represents a focused formulation concept that brings together two complementary ingredients.

“We see strong potential for brands to build on this multi-system recovery approach,” she stated, highlighting the demand for effective recovery solutions in the growing active nutrition market.

As consumers increasingly value recovery strategies as part of a holistic health plan, this innovative offering from Botalys and Biohm underscores the companies’ commitment to addressing the evolving needs of active individuals across various demographics. The partnership aims to inspire a new wave of products that prioritize comprehensive recovery and resilience, setting the stage for future developments in the active nutrition sector.
