Police Arrest Four for Stealing 48 Livestock in Montenegro

The police in Podgorica have arrested four individuals, including three minors, for allegedly stealing a total of 48 livestock from local farms. The theft, which reportedly affected three victims, took place in the Zeta municipality and the Dajbabe area of Podgorica.

According to a statement from the Police Administration, the arrests were made following a directive from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica. The suspects include D.M., a 20-year-old, and three minors aged 16 and 17, who are suspected of committing the crime of aggravated theft over an extended period. Additionally, a criminal complaint has been filed against S.S. for allegedly concealing the stolen property.

The police recovered 19 of the stolen animals during their investigation, which are now being returned to their rightful owners.

The criminal activities are believed to have occurred between late November and mid-December 2023. During multiple incidents, the suspects reportedly entered auxiliary buildings and fenced yards belonging to the three victims and made off with the livestock. The stolen animals were then sold to S.S. for a total amount exceeding €3,000.

Following the arrests, the suspects have been brought before the acting state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica for further legal proceedings. The police continue to investigate the case to uncover any additional details related to the thefts.
