The newly renovated premises of the Montenegro Embassy in Buenos Aires were officially inaugurated on October 20, 2023, during a visit by Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister, Filip Ivanović. The event attracted a significant number of descendants of Montenegrin emigrants, as well as representatives from the local Montenegrin community. This inauguration marks a renewed commitment to strengthening ties between Montenegro and its diaspora in Argentina.
The ceremony featured a reception attended by Montenegrin descendants from Buenos Aires and other parts of Argentina, including provinces such as Chaco and Córdoba, where many members of the Montenegrin diaspora reside. The large turnout at the event highlighted the strong connection between the Montenegrin community in Argentina and their homeland, alongside their interest in enhancing relations with Montenegro.
In his address, Ivanović welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude for their efforts in preserving traditions and maintaining connections with Montenegro. He underscored that the new embassy should serve as an open and accessible space for gathering and collaboration. Ivanović emphasized that Montenegro values the contributions of its emigrants and their descendants in fostering friendly relations between the two nations.
The event also featured remarks from Gordan Stojović, a former Montenegro ambassador to Argentina and current member of the Parliament, alongside Miroslav Radojičić, the chargé d’affaires at the Montenegrin embassy in Buenos Aires. Both officials highlighted the importance of maintaining continuous collaboration with the Montenegrin community in Argentina and the active role the embassy plays in this process.
This gathering served as a reminder for attendees to reflect on their roots and historical ties with Montenegro. It provided an opportunity to renew contacts and strengthen cooperation with the embassy in Buenos Aires, aiming to continue joint activities and enhance connections between Montenegro and its diaspora in Argentina.
