Football Club Budućnost has officially terminated contracts with players Lionel Strumija and Sadok Kadida. The decision, announced by the club, comes after the sports sector concluded that neither player met the standards required for the first team.
Both Strumija, a 33-year-old Argentinian, and 21-year-old Kadida from Tunisia joined the Montenegrin club in the summer, initially touted as significant reinforcements. However, their performances fell short of expectations, leading to a mutual decision for their departures.
In a statement, Predrag Kažić, the club’s Executive Director, detailed the circumstances surrounding the contract termination. He explained that the players were brought in as major signings with substantial contracts, but their contributions ended up causing more harm than good to the club’s overall performance. He noted, “There was no transfer protocol in place, which has now been established, and it became evident that their engagement was detrimental to our club.”
Following consultations with the sporting director and the technical staff, as well as approval from the Board of Directors, Kažić engaged in negotiations to finalize the contract terminations. As part of the agreement, the players will receive three months’ salary, and their official release date is set for November 29, 2025. This decision is expected to save the club over €250,000.
Kažić emphasized the importance of preventing similar issues in the future. He announced plans to organize the club’s operations more effectively, stating, “Buducnost is entering a process of streamlining all professional contracts and ensuring transparent operations.” He further explained that the club will conduct a thorough review of all existing contracts signed under previous administrations and will soon begin signing new agreements that protect both the club and the players, eliminating harmful clauses.
Strumija appeared in ten matches for Budućnost, while Kadida participated in friendly games but did not make an official debut. Kažić concluded his remarks by thanking both players for their professionalism during their time at the club and wishing them success in their future careers.
This strategic decision marks a significant shift for FK Budućnost as it aims to enhance its competitive edge while ensuring sound financial management.
