Emma Raducanu, the British tennis star and 2021 US Open champion, recently shared her admiration for England’s national football team captain, Harry Kane, following their meeting. In an interview with The Guardian, Raducanu discussed her encounter with Kane, describing it as “really cool.” She noted that while their conversation was brief, Kane’s humility left a lasting impression on her. “Harry’s obviously such a great role model and very professional,” Raducanu stated. “For someone of his achievements, it’s pretty remarkable how he’s so humble. I respect him a lot.”

We all kind of understand what each other are thinking and going through at times,” she said, adding that they are “really cool people” as well.

“My whole team basically are big Spurs fans and I feel like they’re egging me on,” Raducanu remarked. “I don’t necessarily follow football so much, but I feel like now because of them I’m feeling some sort of connection.” She also mentioned her enjoyment of watching the UEFA European Championship in 2021, where she followed Kane’s performance closely, along with his teammate Heung-min Son.
Despite her growing interest, both Kane and Son have since left Tottenham Hotspur for other clubs, which may have shifted her perspective on the team. Nonetheless, Raducanu’s interactions with elite athletes like Kane continue to shape her outlook on sports and professionalism.
