A new venture into space tourism is taking shape with the announcement of a luxury hotel on the moon. Galactic Resource Utilization Space (GRU) is now accepting reservations for this exclusive experience, with an initial price tag of $1 million (£743,000). The hotel aims to welcome its first guests as early as 2032.
The inaugural lunar hotel will be an inflatable structure, capable of accommodating up to four guests for multi-day stays. It is designed to operate for a decade, offering spectacular views of both the lunar landscape and Earth. The hotel promises an array of unique experiences, including moonwalks, lunar driving, and even golfing on the moon’s surface. According to GRU, guests can expect to enjoy these activities while taking in the beauty of the lunar environment.
In a statement, GRU founder Skyler Chan expressed his ambitious vision for the project, stating, “We live during an inflection point where we can actually become interplanetary before we die.” Chan believes that if successful, this endeavor could lead to billions of human lives being born on the moon and Mars.

The company has also revealed plans for a more luxurious version of the hotel, which will follow shortly after the initial launch. Artist renderings suggest that the expanded facility will feature plush, cushioned walls, allowing guests to enjoy a zero-gravity experience. GRU plans to construct these expanded habitats using lunar materials, increasing the hotel’s capacity to accommodate ten guests at a time.
Construction of the lunar hotel is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2029, although it remains contingent upon obtaining necessary regulatory approvals. This ambitious project aligns with growing international efforts to establish permanent bases on the moon, with countries like China and Russia also planning their own long-term lunar presence. These nations aim to create a vast lunar site, including a power station, with plans to complete their space base by 2036.
