Survey Reveals Average Brit Owns Over Seven Sex Toys

A recent survey conducted by the sex toy manufacturer Rocks Off revealed that a significant portion of the British population possesses a surprising number of sex toys. The study indicates that 47.4% of respondents own between seven and nine sex toys, while 10.5%10.5% of participants admitted to owning more than 20 sex toys.

The survey highlights the popularity of various sex toys, with the butt plug emerging as the most favored option. More than 47% of those surveyed identified it as their “favourite sex toy.” Other popular choices include clit suckers, cock rings, and vibrators. The primary reason for using these toys, cited by 57.9% of participants, is to enhance pleasure and help them climax. Additionally, some users indicated that these toys add variety to their sexual experiences, while others appreciate their ability to keep their sex life vibrant. Interestingly, 15.8% of respondents mentioned using sex toys due to a sense of “laziness.”

When it comes to frequency of use, most individuals report utilizing their toys at least once a week, with some opting for daily use. This raises an intriguing question: why would someone feel the need to own more than 20 sex toys?

To gain insight, we consulted Annabelle Knight, a sex and relationship expert with Lovehoney. She explains that one toy cannot satisfy every mood or desire. “Pleasure is varied, personal, and ever-changing,” Knight says. She notes that individuals often build their collections over time as they learn more about their preferences, similar to how one might accumulate skincare products or fitness equipment.

Knight emphasizes the benefits of having a variety of options, stating, “Different toys offer different sensations, intensities, and experiences. Having options allows people to choose what feels right in the moment.”

While Knight acknowledges that there is no necessity to acquire multiple toys, she encourages those interested in expanding their collection to focus on versatility. “A good collection doesn’t need to be large – it just needs to be versatile,” she explains.

She suggests that an ideal selection of toys might include:
– A reliable external stimulation toy for easy, accessible pleasure.
– A suction or air-pulse toy, which provides a different experience from traditional vibrators.
– A couple’s toy for shared pleasure, fostering communication and connection between partners.
– A good quality lubricant, deemed essential for comfort and enjoyment.
– A playful or fantasy-led item to encourage imagination and curiosity in a relaxed manner.

Together, these items create a collection that supports self-discovery, providing individuals with options to enhance their pleasure in a relaxed and personal way.

As the survey demonstrates, the ownership and use of sex toys is a common practice in the UK, reflecting changing attitudes toward sexual pleasure and exploration. Whether one owns a single toy or a diverse collection, the emphasis remains on personal enjoyment and empowerment.
