A tattoo and piercing studio in Farnham has achieved national acclaim by winning two prestigious awards less than a year after its establishment. S.U.Y.T., located on East Street, was honored with the titles of Best Tattoo Business and Best Tattoo Suite at England’s Business Awards.
Owner Laura Dodimead opened the studio in March 2025, navigating initial challenges in the local market. However, the business has gained momentum and is now thriving. Dodimead, who previously operated from a home studio, dedicates almost every day to the East Street location as client demand continues to increase.
In addition to its award wins, S.U.Y.T. was also recognized as one of the top ten tattoo businesses in the UK and placed in the top 50 for piercings. Dodimead expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that a client nominated the studio for the awards. Due to scheduling conflicts, she could not attend the ceremony to receive the awards in person, but she was pleased to receive them by mail.
Dodimead highlighted the studio’s unique atmosphere, stating, “Clients have told us S.U.Y.T. is more like a coffee shop than a traditional tattoo parlour. This has created an environment where people from all backgrounds can come, from aged four to 94.” The welcoming approach aims to challenge the stigma often associated with tattoo parlours, as she noted, “We want to remove the stigma from tattoo parlours, as we are not scary or bad people. Tattoos are a way for people of all ages to express themselves.”
Looking forward to 2026, Dodimead hopes S.U.Y.T. will not only win awards again but also improve its rankings in the Small Business Awards while maintaining its focus on providing a friendly space for tattoos and piercings. The success of the studio signifies a positive trend for the local community, with Dodimead eager for more businesses to establish themselves in the area, believing it will enhance foot traffic and client bookings.
