Vogue Williams Opens Up About Jungle Struggles After I’m A Celeb Exit

Vogue Williams has shared insights into her emotional journey on the reality show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! after being voted out as the third contestant. The Irish television personality revealed that she experienced a significant “meltdown” during her time in the jungle, which she requested producers not to broadcast.

In a candid discussion with co-star Joanne McNally on their podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, Williams reflected on the challenges she faced as a latecomer to the show. Arriving alongside Tom Read Wilson, the pair entered a camp already established with ten original contestants, creating a unique dynamic.

During the podcast, Joanne mentioned that listeners expressed concern over Williams’ nail-biting habits, prompting her to clarify her emotional state. “Well, loads of people were like ‘she looks sad.’ But the thing about it is, you are filmed all day long, and there are so many cameras in the camp,” the 40-year-old explained. “I don’t walk around smiling all day long, but I was generally quite happy in there.”

Williams described a particular incident that led to her anxiety spiraling. “I didn’t sleep that night and then we went out and did the trial another night with the cockroaches. I started having an absolute meltdown just lying there like, ‘Please sleep, please sleep, please sleep.’”

As her anxiety peaked, she had to communicate with the production team through the Bushtucker Telegraph. “I was like [out of breath noises] ‘Please don’t show this because everyone will see how mental I am.’ I just couldn’t control it and went into full panic mode,” she recounted.

The production team, however, provided support during her difficult moment. “They are actually so nice when that happens because they’re like ‘You’re okay, it’s fine, don’t worry,’” she noted, highlighting their efforts to help her through the panic attack.

The next day, Williams sought assistance from the show’s psychologist, Sandra. “I was so panicked that night because my anxiety just hit ninety, and I was like, ‘I just have to get rid of this,’” she said. After her conversation with the psychologist, she felt a sense of relief, noting, “For that whole day I was like, ‘I’m totally fine now.’”

Reflecting on her late arrival to the show, Williams acknowledged the difficulties of integrating into an already bonded group. “Now when I watch some of the footage back, I’m like, ‘Oh, they were a bit annoyed that we’d come in.’ But there’s always a couple of latecomers, and it wasn’t my choice to go in late; they kind of chose me,” she remarked. Despite the challenges, she expressed gratitude for the arrangement, stating, “I was thrilled at the time because obviously I got more time with the kids and I was delighted.”

Williams exited the show on March 13, 2024, after thirteen days in the camp. While she felt ready to leave, she acknowledged that she would have been willing to stay longer if circumstances allowed.

As the competition continues, the remaining four contestants, including Tom, Shona McGarty, Aitch, and Angry Ginge, will face the iconic Bushtucker trial, the Celebrity Cyclone.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs nightly at 21:00 on ITV1, STV, ITVX, and STV Player.
