Universal Kids Resort in Texas Seeks Performers Ahead of 2026 Opening

Universal Kids Resort is actively recruiting talent as it prepares for its grand opening in 2026 in Frisco, Texas. The family-oriented theme park will hold virtual auditions for various performance roles, including actors and costumed character performers, who will embody beloved characters from popular franchises such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Shrek, and Despicable Me.

Interested applicants must be at least 18 years old and can submit an online interest form to participate. Callbacks are scheduled for March 9 and March 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The auditions aim to find performers who can bring these iconic characters to life in a setting designed specifically for children and families.

Expansive Attractions and Character Experiences Await

When it opens, Universal Kids Resort will feature seven themed lands inspired by Universal’s most significant films and television shows. Notable areas include DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Puss in Boots Del Mar, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, and Jurassic World Adventure Camp. Families will have the chance to meet characters such as Shrek and Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots, and various Minions like Kevin, Stuart, and Bob.

The park will also showcase interactive experiences, including dinosaur encounters within the Jurassic World-themed area. Molly Murphy, President of Universal Creative, emphasized the park’s focus on childlike curiosity and playfulness. “Every detail was designed through a child’s eyes, from signs at their height to colors that invite them in,” Murphy stated in a news release. “The result is a park that celebrates the joy of being a kid — where imagination isn’t just encouraged, it’s embedded in every attraction, space, and experience.”

Audition Process and Performer Opportunities

Performers who wish to join Universal Kids Resort can create an audition profile detailing their skills and experiences. They are encouraged to upload an updated photo or resume and highlight specific talents to help casting teams match them with suitable roles. Profiles remain active for six months, after which applicants will be notified via email to submit a new profile if they wish to continue being considered for future opportunities.

During auditions, applicants should wear comfortable, movable clothing and avoid costumes, heavy makeup, or wigs, ensuring they can demonstrate their physical abilities effectively.

In addition to the park’s attractions, the adjacent Universal Kids Resort Hotel will provide accommodations for up to five or six guests per room, featuring amenities such as the quick-service Curiosity Café, a full-service bar, an outdoor pool, a fitness room, and a game room. While an official opening date for the park has yet to be announced, its ambitious plans and engaging offerings are set to make Universal Kids Resort a focal point for family entertainment in Texas.
