Rebecca Ferguson has faced challenges in various roles, like navigating the dangerous desert of Arrakis in Dune, surviving an underground bunker in Silo, and traveling as agent Ilsa Faust in the Mission: Impossible films.
Now, due to the Peaky Blinders’ orders (and Netflix), Ferguson is set to arrive in wartime Birmingham soon. According to Deadline, the Doctor Sleep actor will be teaming up with Cillian Murphy in Steven Knight’s next movie, which is a sequel to his crime drama Peaky Blinders set in Birmingham.
Director Tom Harper, known for Wild Rose and Peaky Blinders, will direct the movie with a script written by Knight, starting filming in Birmingham in September.
Although Ferguson’s part and the film’s storyline are currently undisclosed, it is confirmed that the movie will be set post-World War II and will feature Murphy reprising his role as Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby.
Back in 2022, Knight shared with Empire his intentions for a Blinders movie, stating that the Shelby family’s narrative would extend past the Second World War in the upcoming film.
Knight considered the sixth series as the start of a new phase, mentioning how the show’s success and his desire to keep telling its story had broadened Peaky Blinders’ scope beyond its original setting of “Britain between the wars.”
Knight expressed his genuine excitement for the upcoming movie when it was officially approved for production. “It will be a tumultuous part of the Peaky Blinders saga.”
No restrictions. Peaky Blinders fully engaged in battle. With Murphy returning to action, Ferguson joining the fight, and Knight and Harper leading again, it seems that the Peaky Blinders movie will be as spectacular as Chester Campbell’s rage. Show me what you’ve got!
