Steven Spielberg and Emily Blunt got joined with Josh O’Connor for UFO Movie
Make some noise for the latest updates on Steven Spielberg’s movie projects! Just a month ago, we shared with you the thrilling update that popular actress Emily Blunt, known for her roles in Oppenheimer and The Fall Guy, is in discussions to star in the enigmatic new UFO film by a renowned American director, set for release in May of 2026.
Now we are hearing about another prominent British figure joining the project. Per the most recent edition of Production Weekly, Josh O’Connor from Challengers will play the supporting role in Spielberg’s mysterious project described as a ‘two-hander’.
There is limited information available about Spielberg’s upcoming blockbuster project, but it’s been revealed that he will be working again with screenwriter David Koepp from Jurassic Park, and producer Kristie Macosko Krieger will also be collaborating on the film.
Furthermore, at today’s latest IMAX Investor Presentation, there was a prominently featured Universal Pictures project titled The Dish scheduled for May 2026.
It’s not our place to definitively say that Spielberg’s new movie is unequivocally that movie, but The Dish could be a fitting title for a film that might bring the Close Encounters Of The Third Kind director back to aliens and spaceships.
Blunt, currently working on Benny Safdie’s A24 MMA biopic The Smashing Machine with her Jungle Cruise co-star Dwayne Johnson, will return to the sci-fi genre with her first collaboration with Spielberg after appearing in movies like Edge Of Tomorrow and A Quiet Place.
Regarding O’Connor, this will be his first experience in a new genre as an actor in La Chimera, as he is currently busy working on Rian Johnson’s Knives Out threequel Wake Up Dead Man.
No matter what the final title of the film is, we are eagerly anticipating what Steven Spielberg has in store for us on 15 May, 2026.
