Isle of Man Law Firm Commits £1,500 Annually to Air Ambulance

A law firm based in the Isle of Man has announced a commitment to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) with an annual donation of £1,500. Appleby made this pledge to bolster the emergency care provided by GNAAS, which serves patients on the island as well as in the North East of England, Cumbria, and North Yorkshire.

Support for Critical Emergency Services

Since forming a partnership with Manx Care in March 2022, GNAAS has operated as the official emergency air ambulance service for the Isle of Man. The service has responded to over 70 local incidents, delivering advanced pre-hospital care to individuals who are seriously ill or injured. The highly trained teams can perform complex medical procedures at the scene, such as pre-hospital anaesthesia and blood transfusions, ensuring immediate care before patients are transported.

Appleby’s contribution will assist with essential operational costs, training, and equipment necessary for GNAAS to maintain its services on the island. The charity estimates it requires at least £124,000 each year to cover the additional costs associated with its operations in the Isle of Man.

Recently, members of the GNAAS team visited Appleby’s Isle of Man office to discuss the charity’s impact and how the firm can further support its initiatives.

Community Impact

Tom Brook, a partner at Appleby, expressed the importance of GNAAS to the local community. He stated, “Living on an island, the value of the life-saving service provided by GNAAS to the Isle of Man community cannot be overstated. We are delighted to provide an ongoing contribution to help fund this essential emergency service.”

Mandy Karsa, the Isle of Man fundraiser for GNAAS, conveyed gratitude for the support from Appleby. “This contribution will enable our team to continue helping critically ill and injured patients within the community,” she noted.
