Giffgaff Launches Full Fibre Broadband in Chester, UK

Mobile and internet provider Giffgaff, owned by Telefónica UK, has expanded its full fibre broadband offerings to include residents in Chester, a historic city in Cheshire, England. This development, confirmed to ISPreview, marks a significant step in Giffgaff’s initiative to enhance connectivity across the UK.

The company now provides three unlimited monthly plans powered by nexfibre and Virgin Media networks. The options include a 200 Mbps symmetrical service for £30 per month, a 500 Mbps plan for £32, and a premium 900 Mbps tier priced at £35. Currently, installation is offered at no extra cost.

Details of the New Service

Residents who sign up in areas serviced by nexfibre will receive an Amazon eero 6+ router, which features a Giffgaff-branded user interface. Additionally, engineers will install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) from Arcadyan Technology (model PB6802B-LG) within homes to ensure optimal service delivery.

Giffgaff’s rollout is a phased approach, gradually expanding its availability. The service is now accessible to over 360,000 properties in North West England. It also reaches select locations in Yorkshire and the Humber, the East Midlands, and is set to roll out in the North East, Scotland, South West, and Wales before further expansion through 2026.

Consumer Impact and Pricing Adjustments

Chester’s inclusion in this broadband expansion is part of Giffgaff’s ongoing efforts to enhance service delivery, although the gradual rollout can create confusion for potential customers. Notably, the pricing for these packages has been reduced since their initial launch in September 2025, making it a more attractive option for households seeking reliable internet service.

This strategic move by Giffgaff reflects a broader trend in the telecommunications sector, as providers continue to enhance their offerings to meet the growing demand for high-speed internet. The company’s commitment to expanding its fibre broadband services is expected to significantly improve connectivity for residents in Chester and surrounding regions.
