Urgent Extradition: Man and Woman Returned to NI from Malta

UPDATE: A 27-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman have been extradited from Malta back to Northern Ireland in a significant development confirmed by authorities yesterday. The two suspects were returned to face serious charges, including two counts of rape and six counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The extradition, completed by the Police Service’s International Policing Unit, marks a critical step in the ongoing efforts to bring offenders to justice. Both individuals were initially apprehended in the Gozo area of Malta on September 10, 2025. They are now expected to appear before the Enniskillen Magistrates’ Court on December 15, 2025, where the judicial process will commence.

The man faces severe allegations related to incidents occurring in the Enniskillen area between February 2020 and June 2021. Meanwhile, the woman is charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and three counts of child cruelty, highlighting the serious nature of these allegations.

Sergeant Davey from the International Policing Unit stated,

“This double extradition from Malta demonstrates our commitment to tracking down those wanted for crimes here in Northern Ireland.”

He emphasized the collaborative effort between the UK’s Joint International Crime Centre and Maltese authorities, marking a first for the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

“This operation sends a strong message to those who believe they can evade justice by leaving Northern Ireland. We will relentlessly pursue anyone trying to delay or deny justice to victims of crime,” Sergeant Davey added.
