British Airways has announced a significant increase in its operations at Tirana International Airport (TIA), with plans to provide a total of 13 weekly flights starting in April 2026. This expansion is set to enhance connectivity between Albania and the United Kingdom, responding to a surge in demand for travel to Tirana. The move underscores TIA’s growing importance as a key aviation hub in the region, particularly as the airport undergoes substantial infrastructure improvements.
This increase represents a remarkable rise of 44 percent in flight frequency compared to the same period in 2025. As TIA enhances its operational capacity, the airport is also working on expanding terminal space and adding more aircraft parking spots. These upgrades are managed by the Kastrati Group and involve advanced digital technologies aimed at improving passenger experience and operational efficiency.
The expansion of British Airways’ services will not only facilitate more travel options to the UK but will also provide connections to North America, a highly sought-after market for Albanian and Western Balkan travelers. Piervittorio Farabbi, Chief Operating Officer of TIA, emphasized the importance of British Airways as a key partner for the Albanian market. He stated, “The expansion of TIA’s operations demonstrates the airline’s commitment to providing reliable connections, high service standards, and a wide network of destinations for passengers traveling to and from Albania.”
Neil Chernoff, Head of Planning and Strategy at British Airways, expressed enthusiasm for the new routes. “We are excited to be able to build on this demand by increasing the number of flights for the summer 2026 season. Whether for business, leisure, or connecting with loved ones, these additional services will make it easier for travelers to discover all that Albania has to offer,” he noted.
Tirana International Airport remains dedicated to expanding partnerships with airlines while continuously improving passenger experiences. By leveraging strategic investments and modern technology, TIA aims to strengthen Albania’s position on the international aviation map. The airport is rapidly becoming one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing in the region, reflecting its commitment to enhancing connectivity and service quality.
British Airways, as the national carrier of the United Kingdom, operates to over 200 destinations in more than 65 countries, offering more flights from London to international destinations than any other airline. Passengers flying with British Airways benefit from one of the most extensive flight networks globally, with connections to major airports at convenient times. The airline operates from three major London airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, and London City, ensuring comprehensive service for its customers.
This expansion at Tirana International Airport is a testament to the evolving landscape of air travel in the region and highlights the growing significance of Albania as a travel destination.
