Wayne Lineker’s Health Crisis: 10 Days in Intensive Care

Wayne Lineker, the owner of O Beach Ibiza, has shared a concerning health update, revealing that he spent ten days in intensive care after being diagnosed with chronic pneumonia. The 63-year-old entrepreneur reported that the illness has rendered him unable to walk and will require months of rehabilitation.

Initially, Lineker believed he had contracted COVID-19 during a flight from Mauritius to Dubai, where he was heading for a one-year anniversary party. He experienced intense pain and discomfort, which led him to suspect a heart attack upon returning home. Following a harrowing night, he called his daughter, Tia Lineker, who rushed to his aid and accompanied him to the hospital.

In a heartfelt message to his followers, Lineker recounted his ordeal: “So two weeks ago I caught a flight from Mauritius to Dubai as I needed to be there for the one year anniversary party. While I was on that flight, I believe I caught a very bad infection. What I thought at the time was COVID, it completely knocked me out and I just wanted to get home.”

Doctors eventually diagnosed him with chronic pneumonia, a serious condition that affects the lungs and can be life-threatening, especially for older adults or those with pre-existing health issues. The NHS describes pneumonia as inflammation of the lungs, typically caused by an infection. While most individuals recover within two to four weeks, severe cases may require hospital treatment.

After ten days in intensive care, Lineker has now been moved to a respiratory ward. He expressed relief at being out of the danger zone but acknowledged the long road ahead. “I still cannot walk at all and have around two months of rehabilitation and physio ahead of me,” he stated.

Lineker’s experience serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with respiratory infections, particularly for those in his age group. He emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention during health crises and the challenges posed by recovery.

“I am still in hospital but out of the danger zone and intensive care,” he reassured his followers. “Now I have been moved to a respiratory ward, it’s only now that I feel confident enough in my recovery that I can let everyone know I have been speaking and having visits from my family and close friends.”

As he focuses on his recovery, Lineker remains grateful for the support and love from his fans and family during this challenging time.
