Kennedy’s Pub officially opened its doors in Moseley on November 28, marking a significant transformation for the local community. The venue, previously known as The One Trick Pony Club, has undergone extensive renovations under new independent, family ownership. The aim is to restore the essence of a traditional pub that the owners believe was lacking in the area.
As the first customers walked in at 12:00, they were greeted by a warm atmosphere designed to encourage a sense of community. Joint owner Gary McDonnell expressed the vision behind Kennedy’s: “From day one, our goal has been simple: to bring back the type of pub you can pop into any day of the week and feel right at home.” He emphasized the focus on “good beer, good food, good company—nothing gimmicky, just a classic pub.”
Entertainment and Amenities
Kennedy’s is equipped with multiple screens to broadcast live sports seven days a week. Patrons can look forward to watching a variety of events, including Premier League matches, international football, rugby, cricket, and boxing. Additionally, a large outdoor screen will enhance the experience during major sporting events, allowing guests to enjoy the action in an upgraded outdoor space.
The outdoor area features a new heated marquee, ensuring that visitors can enjoy the garden throughout the year, regardless of the weather in Birmingham. Beyond sports, Kennedy’s will also host live music on weekends, showcasing both local talent and established performers. The opening weekend featured performances by Lynne and the Encore, as well as Push to Play.
Social activities like speed quizzing are planned for Sundays, while interactive darts will provide a high-energy experience for groups looking to engage in friendly competition.
Culinary Offerings
In terms of food, Kennedy’s promises a menu filled with classic staples. Customers can expect well-prepared options such as burgers, pies, fish and chips, and a selection of bar snacks, all crafted to pair perfectly with a cold drink. A much-awaited addition to the menu will be the Sunday Roasts, set to launch in the new year.
The reopening of Kennedy’s Pub not only revitalizes a familiar location but also aims to enhance the community’s social fabric. By prioritizing a welcoming environment and diverse entertainment options, the pub seeks to create a space where everyone feels at home.
