Popular Newcastle Nightclub Nancy’s Bordello Sold After 6 Years

UPDATE: The beloved Newcastle bar and nightclub, Nancy’s Bordello, has been officially sold, nearly six years after its closure in early 2019. This highly sought-after venue, located at 13 Argyle Street, attracted significant interest from developers and hospitality operators, thanks to its prime location near Northumbria University and the vibrant Newcastle Quayside.

The venue, which spans over 6,300 square feet and features a multi-level layout with a bar, function room, and commercial kitchen, was brought to market with a guide price of £499,000. The rapid interest in the property highlights its redevelopment potential in a densely populated area favored by students and young professionals.

Former owner Stuart Bailey of The Apartment Group stated, “After over a decade of serving students, young professionals and locals, Nancy’s has been a cherished neighbourhood bar.” He expressed excitement for the future, noting that the new buyer recognizes the venue’s strong potential, whether to reopen it as a bar or transform it for new uses.

The sale was managed by Christie & Co, with agents Marslie McGregor and David Cash overseeing the process. McGregor remarked, “We are delighted to have completed the sale of Nancy’s Bordello. Its reputation and location made it a standout opportunity.”

As of now, the new owners have not yet disclosed their plans for the site. However, the property offers promising opportunities for redevelopment into a hospitality venue, student accommodation, or mixed-use commercial space, pending planning approval.

This development is significant for the local community, as the return of a popular venue could revitalize the area and attract both residents and visitors alike. The potential reopening of Nancy’s Bordello could revive cherished memories for many who frequented the bar during its prime.
