Major M54 Motorway Closed After Serious Multi-Vehicle Collision

A serious multi-vehicle collision has led to the closure of the M54 motorway in Shropshire. The incident occurred around 23:40 hours on November 25, 2025, when a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) swerved across both carriageways. As a result, the westbound section of the M54 is currently closed between Junction 2 (Wolverhampton) and Junction 3 (Albrighton).

Emergency services, including West Mercia Police and National Highways Traffic Officers, are on the scene managing the situation. The crash has not only impacted the westbound traffic but has also caused damage to the central barrier, leading to the closure of Lane 2 on the eastbound carriageway.

According to a spokesperson for National Highways, the HGV involved in the collision has been righted, and recovery operations are ongoing. The spokesperson stated, “The M54 in Shropshire is closed westbound between J2 (Wolverhampton) and J3 (Albrighton) due to a serious collision involving multiple vehicles.” They also noted that traffic within the closure is being released past the scene, but the westbound carriageway will remain closed for emergency repairs.

For those traveling eastbound, Lane 2 will stay closed to assist the barrier crews. Road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to consider rerouting.
