Aston Martin Bids Farewell to Felipe Drugovich After Las Vegas GP

Aston Martin has confirmed that the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix marked the final race weekend for reserve driver Felipe Drugovich with the team. After three years in the Aston Martin ranks, Drugovich is set to transition to active competition in Formula E starting in 2026. The Brazilian driver, who previously won the Formula 2 championship, has been a part of Aston Martin since the inception of their driver development programme in 2022.

Drugovich’s departure was publicly acknowledged on social media, where Aston Martin shared a heartfelt message. The team posted a picture of Drugovich seated on the nose of the AMR25 car, surrounded by team members, captioning it, “A fond farewell to Felipe Drugovich, who, after three years with the team, leaves us this weekend. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Throughout his tenure with Aston Martin, Drugovich participated in multiple free practice sessions and private tests, gaining valuable experience. His last official appearance with the team came during the Las Vegas event, which took place on November 23, 2025.

Aston Martin’s team principal and CEO, Andy Cowell, expressed his support for Drugovich’s move to Formula E during a media interaction at the Singapore Grand Prix. “Felipe has been with the team for several years. A really great asset,” Cowell stated. He emphasized the importance of allowing Drugovich to pursue his racing ambitions, noting, “So we wish him well, thank him.”

As Aston Martin looks ahead, they have secured stability with drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso contracted for the upcoming season. Cowell indicated that this stability would aid the team as they navigate new regulations.

In a strategic move following Drugovich’s departure, Aston Martin has announced that Jak Crawford will take over as their third and reserve driver for Formula 1 in 2026. Crawford, currently competing in Formula 2, is second in the championship standings, trailing leader Leonardo Fornaroli by 19 points. He still has the opportunity to secure the title, with two rounds remaining in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

As the team prepares for this transition, both Drugovich and Crawford represent a new chapter in Aston Martin’s racing ambitions. The organization remains committed to nurturing talent while striving for competitive success in the evolving landscape of motorsport.
