UPDATE: A year after the tragic murder of Curtis Green, the family of the young dad-to-be has issued an urgent plea for information. Green was shot dead in broad daylight on November 10, 2024, in Sydenham, and his family is desperate for justice as no one has yet been charged in connection with his death.
The shooting occurred just after 10 a.m. on Wells Park Road, and Curtis died at the scene. Reports indicate he had attended a party at a nearby flat on Hensford Gardens the night before. With the investigation still ongoing, Curtis’ family is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
In a poignant statement released via the Metropolitan Police, the family stated, “London communities are interconnected through music, food, friendship, love, beliefs, and blood. Violence on the streets and young people being murdered is a concern. We, his family, appeal to those who know something to be brave and come forward. You have a chance to heal our heartache.”
Curtis, a 30-year-old entrepreneur, was not only the owner of a clothing brand and fitness company but was also expecting a child in early 2025. His family expressed their heartbreak, stating, “Curtis was and still is a much-loved member of our family and community. His son has now been born and will grow up not physically meeting his father. We miss Curtis every single second of every single day.”
The emotional plea highlights the devastating impact of gun violence on families and communities. Curtis’ family is urging anyone with information to prioritize accountability over popularity. “If you know anything about what happened, please come forward so that we can have some justice,” they added.
Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend, who is leading the investigation, emphasized that even the smallest piece of information could be crucial. “The slightest bit of information can assist; you may not think the information you have is important, but it may prove vital to this investigation. If you come forward, we will support you and try our best to ensure that we can protect your identity,” she stated.
In an effort to encourage witnesses to speak up, Crimestoppers is offering a £20,000 reward for information leading to a conviction. This offer is available for three months and will expire on February 10, 2026. Reports can be made anonymously, ensuring the safety of those coming forward.
In addition to Curtis, two other individuals—a 27-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman—were also shot during the incident. The man sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman faced a long recovery after being shot in the legs.
Authorities made two arrests following the shooting, but both individuals were later released on bail pending further inquiries. The Metropolitan Police continue to urge anyone who was in Hensford Gardens at the time of the incident to contact them.
Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to 101, quoting Operation Bansara or CAD 2527/10NOV24. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or through their website.
This urgent appeal for information serves as a reminder of the human cost of violence in our communities. Curtis Green’s family and friends continue to seek justice for a life taken too soon.
