Dobbies’ Christmas Shopping Night Raises Urgent Funds for Alzheimer’s

UPDATE: Dobbies’ Christmas Shopping Night is set for December 1, 2023, at the Gailey store, featuring festive cheer and vital fundraising efforts for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Tickets are priced at £1, £2.50, and £5, with all proceeds directly supporting dementia research.

The event promises a delightful evening for attendees, complete with a complimentary glass of prosecco or a soft drink upon arrival. Guests can also visit Santa in his North Pole-themed Grotto and enjoy performances from local community groups. In-store demonstrations and tastings will be available, showcasing Dobbies’ foodhall offerings and Bakery to Go items.

Ayesha Nickson, Dobbies’ Events Programme Manager, emphasizes the significance of the event, stating, “Christmas Shopping Night is a great opportunity for friends and family to come together. This year, we aim to raise funds for our National Charity Partner, Alzheimer’s Research UK.”

Volunteers from Alzheimer’s Research UK will be present at the Gailey store, hosting fundraising activities including raffles and donation buckets. The charity, the UK’s leading dementia research organization, has benefitted from Dobbies’ partnership, raising over £40,000 since its inception in March 2023.

Paul Glazier, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Alzheimer’s Research UK, expressed gratitude for Dobbies’ efforts, stating, “With almost one million people currently living with dementia in the UK, it is vital that we come together and end the heartbreak of this condition.”

Local schools and nurseries involved in Dobbies’ Community Christmas Tree campaign will also receive complimentary real Christmas trees, adding to the festive spirit of the night.
