Sir Mo Farah Sells Surrey Home After Major Price Cut

Sir Mo Farah, the celebrated four-time Olympic gold medalist, has successfully sold his luxurious Surrey home after a prolonged period on the market, concluding a year-long effort marked by a significant price reduction. The property, initially listed for £6 million, has been sold for £4.75 million to Tyler Alexander-Arnold, the brother of former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The eight-bedroom home was purchased by Sir Mo and his wife, Tania Farah, in 2019 for £4 million. Their aim was to achieve a profit of £2 million upon selling. Despite the eventual sale price being lower than expected, the couple still realized a profit of £750,000, according to Land Registry documents.

Property Features and Changes Ahead

The sprawling three-storey mansion, located in a private estate, boasts a range of amenities including an outdoor swimming pool, seven bathrooms, and a media room. The estate itself is part of a 900-acre development that includes a championship-standard golf course, a private tennis and squash club, and access to outdoor activities on the nearby River Thames.

Tyler Alexander-Arnold and his partner, Olivia Alexander-Arnold, have already sought approval from Elmbridge Council to undertake modifications to the property. Plans include adding a new porch, new doors and windows, as well as contemporary stone cladding to enhance the home’s external appearance.

Real estate agents had previously described the property as a “generous and welcoming family home,” highlighting its impressive reception hall and open-plan kitchen, which offers a bright and spacious environment perfect for entertaining.

A Glimpse into Sir Mo Farah’s Journey

Sir Mo’s journey to success is remarkable. He grew up in a modest council house in Hounslow, west London, after being trafficked from Somalia. His early life was marked by tragedy, including the loss of his father due to civil violence when he was just four years old.

With the help of a supportive PE teacher, Sir Mo found his passion for athletics, eventually leading to his British citizenship in July 2000. He went on to become one of the UK’s most decorated athletes, clinching gold medals in both the 10,000 and 5,000 meters at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

In a notable incident last year, Sir Mo demonstrated his athletic prowess when he chased down two thieves attempting to steal his mobile phone while he was jogging with his wife. The swift action resulted in the thieves returning the phone before fleeing.

As Sir Mo moves on from this chapter in his life, the sale of his home marks a significant change, reflecting both his journey and continued success. The property, with its luxurious amenities and prime location, has made way for new owners eager to put their own stamp on the residence.
