Three Arrested in Podgorica for Brutal Attack Over €5,000 Debt

UPDATE: Authorities in Podgorica have arrested three individuals in connection with a shocking assault that left a man severely injured over a debt dispute. The police confirmed that the attack occurred on February 13, 2026, in the neighborhood of Gornja Gorica, where the suspects allegedly attempted to collect a debt of €5,000.

The Police Administration reported that the suspects, identified as M.M. (25) and B.M. (35), were taken into custody for inflicting serious bodily harm and unlawful restraint. Another suspect, S.R., was arrested for aiding in the crime. The trio is accused of forcibly taking the victim to an undisclosed location, where they subjected him to brutal physical violence.

According to police reports, after arriving at the location, B.M. began striking the victim repeatedly in the head. When the victim attempted to defend himself, S.R. and M.M. overpowered him, causing him to fall to the ground. B.M. then restrained the victim’s hands with tape and inflicted multiple lacerations on his right arm using a knife.

Medical examinations confirmed the victim sustained serious injuries, underscoring the violence of the attack. Authorities revealed that the suspects attempted to coerce the victim into repaying a previous loan of €1,800 as part of their demand for the larger sum.

After being questioned by the prosecutor, the suspects face a detention period of up to 72 hours while investigations continue.
