Primorac Secures Narrow Victory Against Red Star in Belgrade

Primorac faced significant challenges during their away match against Red Star in the Premier League on March 4, 2024, but ultimately clinched a crucial victory, winning 13-12. The Kotor team started strong, taking an early lead of 2-0, and at one point held a three-goal advantage in the second quarter at 6-3. However, a dramatic shift occurred as they allowed Red Star to go on a 4-0 scoring run, keeping the tension high until the very end.

Throughout the match, Primorac exhibited resilience, managing to equalize the score three times at 7-7, 8-8, and 9-9. In a pivotal moment during the final quarter, goals from Marko Mršić and Đorđije Stanojević propelled Primorac ahead 11-9. Although Red Star fought back to level the score again, Đuro Radović regained the lead for Primorac. Savo Ćetković then extended the advantage to 13-11 with just over two minutes left on the clock. Despite a penalty goal from Aleksandar Radanović bringing Red Star closer, the match concluded with Primorac securing all three points.

Marko Petković, coach of Primorac, reflected on the match, stating, “We expected it to be difficult to earn points in Belgrade, but we didn’t anticipate it would be this challenging and that we would have to fight for points until the final whistle. We struggled to respond effectively to their defensive strategy and found it difficult against their ‘M zone’ defense. This created problems, particularly as we conceded some naive goals. However, the three points are crucial for our ongoing campaign in the Premier League and will significantly aid our chances of qualifying for the final four.”

In terms of individual performances, Đuro Radović led the scoring for Primorac with three goals, while both Marko Mršić and Savo Ćetković contributed two goals each. Other scorers included Jusuke Inaba, Luka Murišić, Stefan Vidović, Balša Vučković, Nikola Brkić, and Đorđije Stanojević, each adding one goal to the tally. Goalkeeper Dimitrije Rističević made eight critical saves throughout the match.

On the opposing side, Aleksandar Radanović emerged as Red Star’s top scorer with three goals.

Looking ahead, Primorac will host Partizan in the Premier League on March 6, 2024, while Budućnost will welcome Jadran on the same day. The ongoing competition continues to heat up as teams vie for critical positions in the league standings.
