His family describes Brian as a man of many passions. He enjoyed hunting, skeet shooting, and spending time in bowling leagues at The Cove. He also loved gardening, playing cards, and coaching Little League, sharing his enthusiasm for sports with the next generation. Brian and his wife, Alice, spent many joyful moments raising golden retrievers, traveling to Maine, and enjoying road trips to Saratoga to watch horse races—a true Boston Red Sox fan at heart.

Brian leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Alice (Ward) Ovitt; his daughter, Felecie Joyce, and her husband Kevin; sons Michael Ovitt and his wife Lisa, and Travis Ovitt and his wife Jayme. He is also survived by his brothers Robert and Garry Ovitt, sister Eleanor Heineman, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
