SNP Rejects Initiative to Shorten Mandate for Podgorica Assembly

UPDATE: The Socialist People’s Party (SNP) has just announced it will NOT support the proposed initiative to shorten the mandate of the Podgorica Assembly. This significant decision was confirmed by SNP official Masha Stevovic, who emphasized the pressing issues facing citizens in Podgorica.

According to Stevovic, the initiative, introduced by the European Alliance (ES), would divert critical budget resources to conduct extraordinary local elections. “Organizing these elections would require substantial budget funds,” she stated, highlighting that with comprehensive elections scheduled for 2027, this would mark the fourth election within a five-year period.

The citizens of Podgorica are facing numerous challenges that demand immediate solutions, and Stevovic stressed that they do not expect to vote annually. Instead, they seek the fulfillment of pre-election promises, stability, progress, and the effective execution of development projects.

“The Socialist People’s Party is committed to its principles and to delivering on the promises made during the electoral campaign,” Stevovic asserted. She vowed that the SNP would actively advocate for the comprehensive development of Podgorica and the enhancement of life quality for all its residents.

This announcement comes at a critical time as local governance and electoral processes remain under scrutiny. With citizens eager for change and improvements to their daily lives, the SNP’s stance could significantly influence the political landscape in Podgorica.
