Police in Herceg Novi have arrested two men, identified as M.Š., 25, from Bijelo Polje and M.Z., 30, from Novi Sad, on suspicion of attempting to kidnap a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The incident occurred late on the night of February 7, 2026, at a residence in Sutorina, Herceg Novi.
According to the Herceg Novi Police Directorate, the situation unfolded when a homeowner reported an attack on his tenant, a Bosnian national residing in Herceg Novi. The police received the call at 01:50 hours, prompting them to respond swiftly to the scene. Witness accounts indicated that two individuals had assaulted the tenant and subsequently fled the location.
Upon arrival, police officers conducted a series of operational measures which led them to locate and apprehend M.Š. and M.Z.. It is alleged that the suspects forcibly entered the victim’s apartment, where they attacked him while he was in bed. Reports suggest that M.Š. covered the victim’s mouth with a cloth while M.Z. continued to strike him with his fists and feet.
During the assault, the suspects are believed to have stolen two mobile phones and €100 before attempting to drag the victim out of the apartment to a vehicle. The homeowner intervened, threatening to call the police, which caused the suspects to flee the scene in their car.
Police were able to track down the suspects shortly thereafter, intercepting their vehicle and taking them into custody at the Herceg Novi security department. The incident has been referred to the relevant prosecutor, and both suspects will face charges of attempted kidnapping.
The victim sustained minor injuries during the altercation. It is important to note that both M.Z. and the victim had not reported their stays in Montenegro within the legal timeframe. As a result, they may face additional legal measures under the Foreigners Act following prosecutorial proceedings.
