A healthy baby boy was born in Kolašin during the night between Thursday and Friday, marking a significant event for the town. This birth is particularly noteworthy as it is the first in Kolašin in over a decade, following the closure of the local maternity ward.
The mother, a resident of Kolašin, began experiencing labor pains several days before her due date. Initially, she set out for Podgorica to reach the nearest hospital. However, as the situation evolved, it became clear that she would not make it to the capital in time. The family returned to the emergency medical service in Kolašin, where the birth was successfully managed.

The delivery was facilitated by a team led by Dr. Lazar Dragišić, who praised his colleagues for their efficient response. Medical technicians Tina Stanišić, Mihailo Šćekić, and Slavko Radević played vital roles in ensuring a safe and smooth delivery. Dr. Dragišić emphasized the importance of being prepared for such emergencies, stating, “We reacted quickly and professionally, and the most important thing is that both the mother and baby are well. It was a natural birth.”
The emergency service in Kolašin was equipped with complete birthing facilities, allowing the team to handle the situation with confidence. Dr. Dragišić highlighted the significance of their presence during this important moment in the mother’s life, noting, “There is no greater honor than being present and providing expert assistance when a new life is brought into the world.”
