Producers Barry & Fran Weissler and David Ian for Crossroads Live have announced that television icon Les Dennis will join the cast of the acclaimed musical comedy Waitress in its upcoming UK and Ireland tour. Dennis, known for his extensive career in entertainment, will portray Joe alongside the previously confirmed lead, multi-award-winning actress Carrie Hope Fletcher, who plays Jenna. The performance is set to take place at the Winter Gardens Blackpool from July 13 to July 18, 2026.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, Les Dennis has become a household name in the UK. His impressive stage credits include roles in Hairspray, Chicago, and Spamalot, as well as television appearances on shows like Coronation Street and the comedy series Extras. In addition to his stage work, Dennis has previously performed in Blackpool, most recently in Ghost the Musical at the Winter Garden’s Opera House in December 2024.
Carrie Hope Fletcher is also no stranger to the stage. The 33-year-old actress has received accolades for her performances in various productions, including Elf the Musical and Cinderella. Fletcher’s portrayal of Jenna in Waitress adds to her growing list of celebrated roles. Both Dennis and Fletcher have performed in Blackpool previously, and while they have not commented specifically about their upcoming engagement, their enthusiasm for the town is evident.
