Armed Gang Storms Anfield Post Office, Staff Member Threatened

UPDATE: A suspected armed gang stormed the Breck Road Post Office in Anfield today, January 21, 2023, at 11:07 AM, threatening a female staff member during a brazen attempt at robbery. The Merseyside Police responded quickly to reports of the incident, which unfolded in broad daylight.

Authorities report that three masked men, possibly armed with a firearm, entered the branch and attempted to steal cash but left empty-handed. They were seen fleeing on foot towards a dark-colored Audi parked in the Home Bargains car park behind the Post Office before disappearing from the area.

Detective Inspector Paula Jones stated, “An investigation is ongoing to find those responsible, and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.” Thankfully, the staff member was unharmed but shaken by the traumatic encounter.

“This attempted robbery occurred during a busy time, and there were pedestrians and motorists nearby. We urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to contact us immediately,” Jones added.

Witnesses and CCTV inquiries are currently underway, and police are committed to leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the suspects. A sign posted at the Post Office indicates it will remain closed until January 23 as a result of the incident.

A spokesperson for the Post Office confirmed the attempted robbery and expressed support for the staff involved. They urged anyone with information to reach out to the police or Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
