Budva Municipality has announced a national competition for architectural designs for a new kindergarten in Petrovac. The initiative aims to replace an outdated prefabricated building erected in 1979 with a modern, functional, and environmentally sustainable facility.
The total prize fund for winning architects is set at €45,000. The first prize will award €15,000, followed by €10,000 for second place and €6,000 for third. Additionally, €3,000 is allocated for the purchase of work. Interested designers can submit their proposals until March 20, 2026.

The new kindergarten will occupy a plot of 3,470 square meters, currently home to a prefabricated structure built as part of humanitarian aid by the Austrian government following a devastating earthquake. The existing facility, which has served the community for decades, will be demolished to pave the way for a building that meets modern standards.
According to the competition brief, designers are tasked with creating a space that harmonizes visually with local architecture while incorporating contemporary elements. The objective is to achieve a solution that meets the functional and aesthetic needs of Petrovac. The new facility will be a compact structure comprising two floors—ground level and one upper floor—emphasizing natural light, ventilation, and logical space organization.
