The basketball team SC Derbi suffered a significant defeat against Krka, losing 77:65 in their latest match held in Novi Mesto. This loss marks the team’s seventh consecutive defeat and their tenth loss in just twelve games, leaving them at the bottom of Group A in the ABA League.
SC Derbi’s head coach, Petar Mijović, acknowledged his team’s struggles during the match and credited Krka for their performance. “They were absolutely better, except for some periods where we managed to regain some control,” he stated. Mijović highlighted recurring issues that have plagued the team, including a high number of individual errors and allowing Krka numerous offensive rebounds, which contributed to their loss.
Mijović took full responsibility for the team’s current situation, saying, “How the team looks is absolutely my responsibility, and I am the only one to blame for the state in which the team finds itself.” His remarks reflect a deep concern for the team’s performance and a commitment to improving their situation moving forward.
On the other side, Dejan Jakara, head coach of Krka, praised his players for their excellent performance. He expressed satisfaction with the defensive effort that limited SC Derbi to just 65 points. “We executed perfectly on everything we set out to do before the game,” Jakara remarked. He noted that despite a shaky start to the second half, the team managed to maintain control of the game without panic, which was crucial for securing the victory.
Jakara also acknowledged the support from Krka’s fans, stating, “This arena has its charm, and I thank them for that.” His comments underline the importance of home support in their recent success.
As the season progresses, SC Derbi faces a critical juncture where they must address their ongoing challenges to improve their standing in the league. With upcoming matches, the focus will be on remedying the issues highlighted by Mijović and finding ways to secure much-needed victories.
